"The noblest art is that of making others happy" - The Greatest Showman (2017)
The Greatest Showman is a simple, musical, a bit of a romance, and an enjoyable movie. The acting, original music, and imagination are the plus points. Hugh Jackman (P.T. Barnum), Zac Efron (Philip Carlyle), Zendaya (Anne Wheeler), and Michelle Williams (Charity Barnum) acted brilliantly. The costumes are outstanding, the soundtrack captivating. This is a pure family film. The efforts of Director Michael Gracey in bringing together the best cast, costumes, and fresh and original music are commendable and should be appreciated.
However, there are certain major and minor flaws. The CGI is mediocre. There is no character development of certain important characters like Zendaya (Anne Wheeler) or Keala Settle (Lettie Lutz). The movie only fluctuates between Hugh Jackman (P.T. Barnum) and his circus characters, and doesn't truly develop P.T. Barnum's character as well. It is important to mention that the story rushes a little and is not a true biography of P.T. Barnum.
My final verdict: A good family-friendly and feel-good movie with pretty good songs. Don't expect anything else. Worth the time!
My overall score: 7.9⭐/10
