"Jo log mehnat ka saath nhi choddte, kismat kabhi unka hath nhi choddti" -Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020)
[Translated to English]: "Those who work hard and never give up in life, are always rewarded with success in the end" -Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020)
Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is a movie based on the real life-story of Gunjan Saxena, the first Indian IAF woman to enter the war zone. Despite a heavy budget, the movie fails in giving preference to Kargil War and instead showcased the war against male-dominated egos everywhere. Can this be called a biography?
There are much more negatives than positives in this movie. However, the performances of actor Pankaj Tripathi (Colonel Anup Saxena), Viineet Kumar and Angad Bedi (Anshuman Saxena) is commendable and the only positives of this movie. Janhavi Kapoor (Gunjan Saxena) tried hard to simulate emotional scenes but failed miserably. The most laughable moment in this movie is the sound of the bullet thrusting in the panels of the helicopter; can be compared to a video game sound. Also, this movie mainly focuses on male-domination egos and nothing else.
My final verdict: A good real-life biopic ruined by the Dharma Productions. Wastage of time.
